A Swing and a Miss

“When you aim for perfection, you discover it’s a moving target.” - Geoffrey Fisher

Here is another drill I got from my good friend Les Kismartoni. Les is a phenomenal shooter, and has been a huge influence on my style of training. He created this drill to work on moving targets in combination with transitions and addressing varied targets appropriately.

To run the drill, you set up a swinger target and activator at the approximate center of a random array of different targets. On your first repetition, you simply shoot the activator and then shoot the swinger twice on its first pass. The next repetition you engage one target between the activator and the swinger. The goal here is to again shoot the swinger target twice on its first pass. Then on the next repetition engage two targets between the activator and swinger. Then three, and four and so on until you cannot get two shots on the swingers first pass.

The next set you repeat the process with a different engagement order. Additional sets follow different engagement sequences as well. The beauty of this drill lies in the increasing complexity and the random nature of the engagement sequences. This randomized training style rapidly improves consistency under pressure.

Put some time in on this one and I guarantee you it will improve your skill.
