Fluid V Posted by Matt Little on 22nd Jul 2025 'Good footwork wins fights." - Bas Rutten If the 3:45 Drill is my personal test for marksmanship and weapons manipulation under time pressure, the Fluid V Drill is my personal test for movement with a firearm. The drill has a relatively simple setup. Three stacks of two barrels each in a triangle with sides of ten yards. The base of the triangle is down range, and the apex is uprange. There are three targets, either B/C steel or USPSA/IDPA silhouettes ten yards in front of the base of the triangle. One target in front of each outside barrel stack, and a third lined up in front of the center (up range) barrel stack. To shoot the drill, start behind rear barrel stack. Draw and move to left barrel stack and engage left target with two rounds only around left side of the barrels. Move around front of left barrel stack, run to right barrel stack and engage right target with two rounds only from right side of barrels. Move around front of right barrel stack, run uprange to center barrel stack, and engage center target with two rounds only from left side of barrels. Move around front of rear barrel stack, run to right barrel stack and engage right target with two rounds only from right side of barrels. Move around front of right barrel stack, run to left barrel stack and engage left target with two rounds only from left side of barrels. Move around front of left barrel stack, run uprange to center barrel stack, and engage center target with two rounds only from right side of barrels . Any hit on B/C steel counts. On USPSA targets must be C zone or better, a D zone hit is a miss. On IDPA targets, must be a down 1 or better hit to score, a down 3 is a miss. Must be shot clean in my presence under a total time of twenty-eight seconds to receive a patch. Shooters who pass both the 3:45 and the Fluid V will receive my Pistol Mastery Certification.
